The “April Rush” Warning: Why Waiting Until Spring to Call a Landscaper is a Mistake

If you’re waiting for the snow to completely melt in Oshkosh or for the first robin to appear in Neenah before calling a landscaper, you might already be too late for a 2026 completion.
Every year in the Fox Valley, we see the same phenomenon: the "April Rush." As soon as the thermometer hits 50°F, every homeowner in Winnebago and Outagamie County picks up the phone at the exact same time.
At Wildflower Landscapers, we believe in transparency over sales pitches. Here is the reality of the 2026 season and why "waiting for spring" is a tactical mistake that could cost you your entire summer.

1. The Design Logjam
A high-end hardscape project isn’t just about moving dirt; it’s about precision engineering. Our 3D Design process is what sets us apart, allowing you to walk through your backyard before a single stone is laid.
The Reality: Quality design takes time. By the time April 1st hits, our design calendar is usually backed up 4–6 weeks.
The Risk: If we start the design process in late April, you likely won’t have a finalized, rendered plan and a signed contract until June.
2. The 2026 Production Calendar: A Reality Check
We want to be 100% honest about our current availability so you can plan accordingly. We don't over-promise and under-deliver.
Right Now (March/Early April): We have a few select openings left for early spring starts.
May 2026: OFFICIALLY FULL. Our crews are already completely committed to projects currently in the pipeline.
June & Beyond: Filling fast.
A note on "Memorial Day": We won't lie to you just to get a deposit. At this stage, we can no longer promise you’ll be hosting a Memorial Day party on your new patio. However, if you wait until April to call, you’ll be lucky to have your project finished by Labor Day.
3. Securing Materials for "Huge" Projects
If you are planning a comprehensive outdoor living transformation—outdoor kitchens, multi-level pavers, and full 3D site integration—these projects require the most lead time.
The Reality: High-end materials for "Private Resort" style builds often have longer lead times.
The Risk: Settling for your "second choice" stone because your first choice is on a 2-month backorder by the time we get to your project.
4. You Lose the "Prime" Season
In Wisconsin, we only get about five months of truly great "patio weather."
If you call in March: We can break ground as soon as the frost is out. You're enjoying your investment by mid-summer.
If you call in May: You’re likely looking at an August or September start date. You’ll spend the best months of the year looking at a "Work in Progress" or a muddy backyard.
The Wildflower Advantage: The "March Headstart"
By starting your consultation with us right now, we can leapfrog the April Rush. We can finalize your 3D renders, stage your materials, and have everything ready to go the moment the ground is workable.
We take pride in our craftsmanship, and that means we don't "squeeze people in" or rush our projects. We do it right the first time.
Ready to Beat the Rush?
We are currently booking the final remaining spots for our Spring/Summer 2026 calendar in Oshkosh, Appleton, and Neenah.
